United States Government Issue (USGI) and Spec Ops Brand enhanced tactical load bearing vest (TLBV) that had been upgraded to MOLLE. The two front panels were manufactured by Spec Ops Brand for only a limited time in 2003-04 for soldiers to use to upgrade the TLBV to MOLLE (which had just started to become bulk general issue). According to Spec Ops, the upgrade was well received but the "MOLLE LBV" concept (such as the SPEAR ELCS vest and MOLLE II medic vest) was quickly overshadowed by the OTV, IBA, FSBE, and other integrated carrying systems.
This vest is comprised of the Spec Ops Brand panels mated with a 2004 contract dated Reyes Industries manufactured enhanced TLBV. The back panel and shoulder straps (along with the 550 cord and cord locks) come from the original USGI TLBV. Unlike the MOLLE II medic vest and the SPEAR ELCS vest, the Spec Ops Brand panels are stiffened and "stand up" to the weight of full pouches without as much "sag" as the two (2) previously mentioned MOLLE LBV systems.
The concept behind the upgrade allows for use of both MOLLE and ALICE components. Included is a used USGI "matching" 2004 contract dated Reyes Industries manufactured LC-2 nylon duck water canteen cover.
