Using the revolutionary 3 zip design you'll find on many of our futura packs, Dana then added a ton of military specific features: PAL web, extra compression straps, a radio cradle able to secure a 117 radio, and all of this with the ability to easily carry up to three 100 oz. hydration reservoirs. We've pulled out all the stops here for a truly revolutionary day pack. Along with military uses, hunters have found it very useful as a day pack and for preseason training and scouting. Police and Tactical squads are also using the 3 Day for mission specific loads.

An ingenious design that makes accessing your gear quick and easy by effectively working as a top-loader and panel-loader in one. Hooking a finger under the lid flap allows you to tear open the top for quick access to necessities, and a full-length front zipper opens the bag wide for complete access to all your gear.
Autolock Buckles
Dana worked specifically with National Molding to come up with a fast tech buckle with a simple locking mechanism. Once you have the buckle where you want it the cam lock automatically engages. Once engaged the buckle will not slide unless you disengage the cam lock. These buckles are also load rated to 240 pounds before failure and built in the USA.- Daypack Lid
A two compartment lid design with a hinge in between. The two compartments greatly aid in organizing gear and customizing the load unlike the traditional large single pocket design. These lids come with either a built in hip belt or shoulder strap assembly.

- Hot Shot Yoke
A Velcro anchored telescoping yoke system that can be adjusted to fit your torso length. Once the yoke is properly adjusted, the curve of the aluminum stay is contoured to match the shape of your back. This yoke is much longer and narrower than our other yokes to insure the maximum support and mobility. The yoke is available in three different sizes to offer an incredible fit.
- Five-Segment Lumbar Wrap
Each of the five segments of this lumbar wrap system are designed to move independently to contour to your specific waist structure. This ensures complete contact across your lower back and hips to better support the load. A molded outer shell with 3D shaping structures the waistbelt segments to decrease sag. Each shell is lined with a soft, open-cell foam wasitbelt pad that provides the cush and won’t get slimy when you sweat. Dual densities of foam are combined to make the lumbar pad cushy and breathable against your body while retaining the stiffness needed for effective load transfer. The interchangeable waistbelt pads come in three different sizes to insure a great fit.

- Futura Ruck
Futura Rucks are low profile and lightweight packs with minimal padding designed for high energy activities with lighter loads. A plastic framesheet supports the main bag and spreads the load evenly along the length of your back limiting the amount of weight that is concentrated at the hips. The combination of our Futura Yoke and Live Wing Waist Belt System allows for unsurpassed flexibility and a precise custom fit that locks to your body through your most active endeavors
- Guide Frame
The Guide frame is precisely tuned to flex with heavy loads. Stiff framing, aggressive load transfer and flexible harnessing make this pack a dream with 50 to 80 pounds. Two fiberglass composite rods set parallel behind a strong plastic framesheet function together to create a highly stable mainframe that insulates your back from the pressure of heavy loads. They also provide a direct channel along the length of the pack that transfers the load to our patented Five Segmented Lumbar Wrap. An additional aluminum stay sits behind the center lumbar pad to provide support and to shape the lower portion of the pad to your back. This stay extends upwards towards the middle of the pack where it intersects the center yoke stay to complete the shaping mechanism of the frame. The Guide Series packs use the Futura Yoke which extends its’ inherent flex and slim contact area to allow a little more roll with large loads. All these components work together to provide a unique combination of aggressive load transfer with a precise flex range, ideal for hauling heavy loads.
- G Light Frame
The G Light frame is a scaled down version of our heavy duty Guide Frame. The two fiberglass composite rods are set parallel behind a strong plastic framesheet to create a highly stable platform. These rods provide a direct channel to the lumbar system along the full length of the pack. They lock directly into the foam and plastic structure that anchors the waist belt to the pack facilitating direct transfer to your hips. The M4 Lumbar Wrap of the G Light series utilizes the tension between the waistbelt wing and lumbar pad to conform the belt to your waist and transfer the load to your back and hips. G Light Frame packs use the Futura Yoke that adjusts by telescoping up and down to match the exact length of your back. These packs are the solution to your mid-duty backpacking needs.

The tension between the wing and laminated lumbar pad is harnessed to conform the belt to your waist and transfer the load to your back and hips. The plastic cookies of the laminated lumbar pad and soft, inner foam pad lock together to create a complete unit with the wing. This transfers the load from the framing rods through the entire belt system. The interchangeable hip belts in the system come in three different sizes to insure a perfect fit.
- Live Wing Belt System
This system utilizes a stiff foam cookie that structures the bottom corners of the pack and functions as the lower anchor point for the mainframe. The soft inner foam pads also get anchored between the wing and cookie which allows them to float freely across the lumbar area to contour to your specific shape as you move. This entire waist belt system can be folded up into the sides of the pack for clean access when wearing a climbing harness or for low profile traveling.
- M4 Lumbar Wrap
A low profile and lightweight belt system that maintains the same comfort and support of much bulkier designs. The tension between the wing and laminated lumbar pad is harnessed to conform the belt to your waist and transfer the load to your back and hips. The plastic cookies of the laminated lumbar pad and soft, inner foam pad lock together to create a complete unit with the wing. - Monkey Yoke
A Velcro anchored telescoping yoke system that can be adjusted to fit your torso length. Unlike the Futura Yoke this yoke has no aluminum stay in it to insure the highest amount flexibility possible. The Monkey Yoke is also tailored longer to insure that the pack is worn low on the back. The yoke is available in different sizes to offer an incredible and precise fit.
- NICE Frame
A thoughtful redesign of the interface between the user and the load lead to pre-programmed flex to an ultra stable platform in a manner that has reached an entirely other level of performance with extremely heavy loads. The result is a comfortable and flexible frame system capable of controlling any load you can lift to your back.
The comparatively lighter composite mainframes in Mystery Ranch internal frame packs are engineered to let the load move with you mostly. All internal frame packs are limited by what constitutes the load, and how that load rides in the pack. They rely on the tension created by pulling the load tight to your back to force the load to become part of you. The limits of this system are suddenly reached when you can’t pull the pack tight enough to control the load you are attempting to carry. Often times irregular loads, dense, heavy loads, and loads that vary greatly in size during your trip will challenge the limits of an internal frame. We have isolated the framing mechanisms in our internal frame packs to function better, but even the Mystery Ranch internal frames are subject to unruly loads—that’s why there’s a NICE Frame.
The NICE Frame utilizes the same segmented flex of the Five Segmented Lumbar Wrap and customized sizing of the Futura Yoke as in most Mystery Ranch packs, but pairs them with a unique mainframe engineered for previously unmanageable loads.
Copying basic human physical components, we have given the NICE Frame a skeleton, joints, skin, and muscle. The carbon-fiberglass bars that make up the skeleton create a linear 3x3 grid. These six bars essentially double the amount of mainframe typically used in internal frame packs. The key to smooth motion are good joints and the bones of this skeleton are linked by sewn nylon web joints that are programmed to perfectly flex with your stride without wasting energy flexing the load. All excess motion is limited by the Cordura tension panel that makes up the NICE Frame’s skin. This allows a life-like flex to the NICE Frame as you walk. You, of course still provide the muscle.some things never change!
- Overkill Guide Frame
The Guide frame is precisely tuned to flex with heavy loads. Stiff framing, aggressive load transfer and flexible harnessing make this pack a dream with 60 to 100 pounds. Two fiberglass composite rods set parallel behind a strong plastic framesheet function together to create a highly stable mainframe that insulates your back from the pressure of heavy loads. They also provide a direct channel along the length of the pack that transfers the load to our patented Five Segmented Lumbar Wrap. An additional aluminum stay sits behind the center lumbar pad to provide support and to shape the lower portion of the pad to your back. This stay extends upwards towards the middle of the pack where it intersects the center yoke stay to complete the shaping mechanism of the frame. The Overkill Futura Yoke is two inches wider than the Futura Yoke used in the standard Guide frame packs. This extra two inches with the addition of dual aluminum stays reduce any sway to a minimum for better stability with those really heavy loads.

The added framing and width increases the stability and strength of the yoke. Once the yoke is properly adjusted, the curve of the aluminum stays are contoured to match the shape of your back. The yoke is available in three different sizes to offer an incredible fit.

An elegant design for an easy access into the sleeping bag compartment. A simple internal compression reduces the tension on the zipper make even large winter bags no problem.
- Stick-it
An external flap that is ideal for overloads such as a shovel, helmet or extra shell. The flap is designed articulate and expand to accommodate bulky items.
- Wild Weave Cordura
This fabric continually amazes even us. Dana worked directly with fabric manufacturers to create this material. Wild Weave is a combination of 500 and 1000 denure Hard Cordura fibers randomly woven to isolate certain characteristics making them a better working whole. Abrasion is challenged by the large outer threads while structure is maintained by the tighter, smaller fibers. Punctures or cuts will not spread because the thread in this random weave tends to knot when torn. This is some of the most durable stuff we have ever used. You will find Wild Weave in the Works @ Mystery Ranch line of packs including our Monkey packs.
- X Wing Frame
The simple X shaped mainframe of this system is the key to maximizing flexibility, stability and comfort up through 40 pound loads. Two fiberglass rods make up the X-Wing mainframe. These rods cross to create a pivot point for the perfect amount of flexibility while actively transferring the load directly to the Live Wing Waistbelt System. Additional cushioned waistbelts can be added to customize your waistbelt for heavier loads. For shoulder harnessing the X-Wing packs utilize the Futura Yoke that adjusts vertically to match the exact length of your back. These features together provide a truly comfortable and custom fit.
