SUMMARY	Featuring a meticulously arranged, radiant bamboo core encased within a fuzzy shell of ramie yarns, this evocative work references the myth of Pangu - a primordial figure in Chinese legend said to have emerged from a cosmic egg. The making of the object combines two traditional crafts: the inner core employs techniques historically used to construct bamboo frames for lion dance ‘heads’ in Guangdong, while the outer shell involves tearing, folding, and sewing ramie yarns, which creates a fur-like texture that highlights the fibre's strength and flexibility. Drawing inspiration from Chinese mythological and divination texts, including the Nine Halls Diagram and Book of Changes, Wanbing uses her art - deconstructing and reconstructing natural materials - as a metaphor for the cycle of life.
