Description

Navy SEAL "Envelope" Holster by Eagle Industries.
Designed to full size autos this holster would be great if you were going into a dirty environment and speed was not a concern. These were supposedly designed for special operations forces around the Desert Storm period.

History / Summary

Holster designed and built for U.S. Navy SEALs by Eagle Industries Unlimited in St. Louis, MO. Limited production of approximately 500 units; originally made in colors of green, sand tan, and a few in black. Made in 1990 for Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Called an "envelope holster," it was designed for the flap to fold up to keep out water and the fine powder-like sand of the Saudi desert. Constructed of five layers of 11-ounce (aka 1000 denier) Cordura nylon. Obviously not a fast-draw holster, it was meant as a secure container for a sailor's backup firearm, assuming, of course, he had a primary weapon (rifle, shotgun, etc.). Intended for Beretta M9 or M1911 models, it will hold any handgun that size or smaller. This holster made with usual EAGLE excellence. Attaches to equipment belt with Model 1956 clips. Double stitched. The numerous small squares sewn on the main body of the holster hold the five layers of Cordura nylon firmly in place. Will accept optional nylon extension hanger and leg straps (not available).
