Mountain/Cold Weather Clothing System (MCWCS) The Mountain/Cold Weather Layering System is a radical re-design of the cold weather clothing system for the U.S. Marine Corps.

The purpose of the Family of Mountain Cold Weather Clothing and Equipment Program (FMCWCEP) is to increase the survivability, mobility, and lethality of Marines in mountainous and cold-weather environments, at altitudes in excess of 15,000 feet, and at temperatures that fall as low as -25 degrees Fahrenheit.

This multi-layer system includes Polartec MARPAT printed Polartec Wind Pro. Which is 4 times more wind resistant than traditional fleece, provides warmth without weight, and is water repellent allowing it to be worn as an outer layer.
