I remember 10SFG being issued a stainless steel "nalgene" type canister with cup as winter kit, pre-SFLCS/FSBE/RLCS etc, I can't remember if it was single walled or double-walled with vacuum between for insulation. Intended to be easier to melt snow for hydration and cooking/hygiene purposes.
