Portuguese Army M64 Double Magazine G3 Pouch II Type

Porta-Carregadores

With the entry into service of magazine feed automatic rifles, it became necessary to adopt more effective carrying pockets as the initially used pattern 37 pockets made it difficult to quickly provide the position in which they were mounted and the pockets for carrying the ammunition. and more mixed equipment.

The first Double Magazine Pouch used appear to have been the Germans that were purchased with the first G3 even before the widespread adoption of this weapon and its manufacture under license in Portugal. In terms of overall design this may have been the initial source of inspiration for the development of the M64 loader.

The first dual-loader model featured a two-pocket structure that could carry tightly packed G3 or FN FAL loaders. The loader closure flaps were closed with latches similar to those of the pattern 44 and pattern 58 clip system. They were attached to the belt using hooks that attached to the pattern 37 and pattern 58 belts in use in the army.

The second model was attached to the belt by two canvas clips sewn into the back of the loader instead of the hooks. It also had an inner fabric strap attached with a quick serve clip.
