The ‘Oppakningssystem’ M/45-59: Following the development in infrared technology the Danish army recognised the need for more olive drab coloured (OD) equipment.
OD coloured equipment did not show as well under infrared light of the 1950s. While they were at it the Danish Army also decided to change the layout of the webbing and to introduce new items. New ammunitions carriers, new gas mask, gas mask carrier, rain poncho, rain poncho carrier, new carrier for the entrenching tool, new water bottle, and a new water bottle carrier was introduced during the 1960s.

The improved webbing was designated the Oppakningssystem M45-59 and was part of a much larger effort to improve the equipment and uniforms of the entire army. However, the M/45-59 Webbing Equipment was still meant to be used together with the M1 Garand.
