The Ranger Assault Carrying Kit (RACK), a component of the MOLLE system, will accept all MOLLE compatible pockets. The RACK is the current LCE for all riflemen at the 75th Ranger Regiment and can also be configured for grenadiers or SAW gunners.
The RACK frees up the hip and abdomen area by being worn on the chest thus not conflicting with a waist belt on a rucksack. Additional space for pockets is provided by a fold-up stash away bib that attaches on the D-rings mounted on each shoulder strap. The bib has a pocket behind it that will hold a pair of AN/PVS-7D's or the new M-24 mini binocular. The RACK is worn with the shoulder straps crossed in the back or H harness style. The shoulder straps are low profile webbing to work with a pack on or off and with or without body armor. All new modular pockets on the AIRSAVE aviators survival vest, Marine MOLLE system and Army Modular Load System (MLS) are compatible with the RACK.
The RACK is issued with the following components: 4 pockets that each hold 2 M-4 magazines and 2 twelve gauge shotgun rounds, 4 fragmentation grenade pockets, 1 Saber radio pocket, 1 pocket that will accommodate the AN/PRC-126 radio or can be used for General Purpose items (like chem lights, weapons cleaning kit, etc.) and 1 Quart Canteen Pocket with a stash away flap (this pocket can be used to hold more frag or 40 MM grenades as well as NVG's etc), 1 leg pouch. The leg bag can be quickly snapped on and off the leg via a 2" side release fastex adapter, and can be positioned anywhere on the RACK harness.
The leg pouch provides storage for additional magazines, frags or demolitions and pyro-technical signaling devices or a standard issue protective mask. The leg pouch may also be slung on a general-purpose sling.

MOLLE Pack Frame – The re-designed frame provides greater stability. The frame has also been lightened, lessening the load that needs to be carried. The vertical slots along the frame allow for the positioning of the Main Ruck Sack and Sleep System Carrier.
Shoulder Strap Suspension – Allows the user to move the weight of their load from their shoulders to their hips. The re-design of the Shoulder Strap Assembly allows the user to keep the pack on for extended periods of time without discomfort.
Sustainment Pouches – Provides the user with an additional 500 cubic inches of storage space. Pouches can be slung with a general-purpose sling when not used with the MOLLE System.
Main Rucksack – Has had all points of attachment at the frame reinforced to prevent pull through. The Ruck provides 3000 cubic inches of storage. The front Pocket is sized to fit the Claymore Mine.
Fighting Load Carrier – This new vest sits higher on the user abdomen allowing room for the fixed waistbelt of the Pack Frame. Webbing Channels located on the vest allow for positioning of all MOLLE Compatible pockets, to the wearer’s specific needs. The incorporated waistbelt also allow for the positioning of all MOLLE pockets. Adjustments are made by using the 2 vertical 1-½ inch webbing’s on the back of the vest and the 1-inch webbing’s in the chest area of the vest. The waist belt is adjusted by removing the vertical stiffened webbing located on the back of the vest and adjusting as needed.
Patrol Pack – The inclusion of a sheet frame and 2 Velcro closed opening’s that stow Two2"w by 14" L pieces of webbing allow it to be used in Airborne Operations. These openings can also be used to route a radio antenna through. The front pocket also has an enclosed area to store the cleaning kit for the M-16 Rifle.
Sleep System Carrier - Attaches to the MOLLE Pack Frame and allows for the storage of the Modular Sleep System. Male buckles from the Main Rucksack are woven through the web channels of the Sleep System Carrier and are connected to the female portion of the rucksack flap or Patrol Pack if utilized. The Sleep System has also had the attaching points to the Frame reinforced to prevent pull through.
Radio Pocket - Located inside the Main Rucksack against the back panel. The removable Radio Pocket is designed to carry the SINGARS radio. A nylon-webbing basket inside the Radio Pocket is designed to carry the ASIPS model radio. The Pocket can be removed and carried by attaching the general – purpose sling to the D-rings located on each side.
Waist Pack – Replaces the Butt Pack from the original MOLLE design. The Waist Pack can be worn in four different ways. It can be attached to the Main Ruck Sack directly below the Claymore Pocket; It can be attached to the bottom of the Patrol Pack; it be attached to the waist belt of the Fighting Load Carrier and it can be worn independently by using it’s own attached waist belt.
100 Round Pocket – Attaches to Fighting Load Carrier. Allows the individual to carry a 100 round soft pack for the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon.
200 Round Magazine Pocket – Attaches to Fighting Load Carrier. Allows the individual to carry one 200 round Magazine for the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon.
Medic Pocket – Attaches to Fighting Load Carrier. Allows the individual to carry needed Medical supplies. Can be secured to any part of the MOLLE System.
30 Round Double Magazine Pocket – Carries two 30 Round Magazine for the M-16A2 / M-4 Rifle. Can be attached to Fighting Load Carrier in various locations to meet the users needs. The sides of the pocket have stiffeners added to allow the pocket to maintain its shape when empty. The flap has been reinforced on the top and front face to help prevent rub through.
Single High Explosive 40mm Grenade Pocket – Holds one 40mm Grenade for the M203 Grenade Launcher. Pocket is attached to the Fighting Load Carrier in various locations to meet user’s needs
Double High Explosive 40mm Grenade Pocket – Holds two 40mm Grenade for the M203 Grenade Launcher. Pocket is attached to the Fighting Load Carrier in various locations to meet user’s needs
Double 40mm Illumination Round Pocket – Holds two illumination rounds for the M203 Grenade Launcher. Pocket is attached to the Fighting Load Carrier in various locations to meet user’s needs
9mm Magazine Pocket – Holds one magazine for the M9 pistol. Pocket is attached to the Fighting Load Carrier in various locations to meet the user’s needs.
Fragmentation Grenade Pocket – Pocket holds one Fragmentation Grenade. Pocket is attached to the Fighting Load Carrier in various locations to meet the user’s needs.
M-16A2 Bandoleer – Located inside the Claymore Mine Pocket, the bandoleer holds six 30 round M-16a2 / M-4 magazines. The bandoleer can be slung across the shoulders.
