This is a very rare, complete set of British Army Improved/Individual Northern Ireland Body Armour, I.N.I.B.A.

These vests were produced in the early 1980s to replace the ageing US M52 &M69 vests.

They were issued to all troops on patrol in Ulster.

Put on over the head when the front plate is unzipped.

These were designed to be worn beneath the combat jacket, in an attempt to "win hearts and minds".

This vest is a size medium, the cover is in very good used condition, it is complete with the original filler.

It also comes with a very rare set of original MK2 SAPI plates. These square cornered plates, are the correct early plate to fit this vest.

For more info see page 91/92 of Martin Brayleys superb book "MODERN BODY ARMOUR".

MK-2 or “INIBA” Body Armour was designed by the Ministry of Defence for use in Northern Ireland to protect soldiers on patrol against handguns, bomb blast fragments and sniper rifles. Concealed under a combat smock to provide good protection and mobility, the vest slips over the head and is secured with velcro on each side. Kevlar liner is in great condition as are the TWO ballistic 'SAPI' plates that are included. A difficult to find vest due to it's limited use. A brilliant addition to any collection of flak jackets/body armour or British Army equipment. The vest is Large/Extra Large. Any questions, please ask!
