British Army 58 Pattern Green Water Bottle - First Pattern

Genuine vintage 58 pattern British army water bottle.
Dated 1965.
Maker stamped "F&G".
Top cap is a later 1970s "Osprey" brand, but the top is still the early pattern..without the gas mask drinking tube device.
Genuine issued item, this is the rare 1st pattern

GREEN colour water bottle, hard to find these days...

Interesting usable item,51 years old and still works fine.

  1. The original cap (one piece moulding) and retainer would have been a matching green. The Osprey cap is actually the second type (two piece) and has a BLANK circle (at 3 O'Clock, 6th picture) where the date is normally moulded: it's almost as rare as the bottle! By 1967, the waterbottles were made in black. Mugs have always been made in black.

I was issued a '65 dated waterbottle in 1989. In 1990, the storeman fitted a S10 respirator cap, throwing away my precious green cap! I still use the waterbottle today, retaining it after service. As old as me but still going strong.
